This hasn’t been the coldest or snowiest winter on record but even so, warmer weather will be welcomed by folks come March – and what better way to celebrate a newly sprung spring than by participating in the Charles...more County Sheriff’s Office’s Third Annual Bike Ride for the United Way of Charles County and the Spring Dell Center, Inc.?
 
The ride will take place March 24 on the Charles County Hiker-Biker Trail. Registration opens at 9 a.m. at the Village Green Pavilion located at 100 Walter Thomas Road in Indian Head and the ride begins at 10 a.m. Participants can choose to ride all or part of the 26-mile trail. The fees, which help raise money for United Way and the Spring Dell Center, are $25 for individual riders, $40 for families of two, $50 for families of three, and $15 for each member of a family of four or more. Broadband Network Expands in Charles County

The Charles County Commissioners are pleased to announce that Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department and Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School are one step closer to being connected to the County's Institutional high speed fiber optic...more network.  Fiber optic cables for these locations have begun to be laid, as part of the One Maryland Broadband Network (OMBN) State project, which provides access to high-speed Internet broadband services for community institutions (e.g., schools, hospitals, community colleges, etc.) across the State of Maryland.

In Charles County, the project will connect the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department and Mount Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School to the Charles County Government fiber optic network.  This will result in much faster Internet service for both locations.
