FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County police have charged a Chevy Chase, Md. man for a New Year's Day robbery at a Denny's Restaurant.

Colin Thomas Bowie was charged with robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and impersonating a police officer.

According to Fairfax City Police, Takoma Park Police arrested Bowie on Feb. 17, charging him as a fugitive from justice from Virginia. He is being held in Montgomery County, Md.

In the Denny's robbery, authorities say a man entered the restaurant at 10473 Fairfax Boulevard at approximately 6:30 a.m. claiming to be a police officer. Then, the man took out a handgun and ordered the manager into the office to get money from the safe. The manager handed the man the money and the man fled out the back door.

No one was injured in the incident.

BAILEYS CROSSROADS, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax County Fire authorities say Red Cross is helping two residents who have been displaced because of an apartment fire this past weekend.

A fire broke out on Saturday at approximately 7:50 p.m. at their three-story apartment building in the 3400
...more block of Carlin Springs Road.

Firefighters reported light smoke coming from the front of a second floor apartment and battled the fire in a bedroom closet in the second floor apartment. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes.

Fire officials say there was  moderate damage to that apartment but surrounding apartments only received minor water and smoke damage. Damage is estimated at $75,000, according to officials.

Residents were warned about the fire by fire alarms. There were no injuries.

The fire is under investigation.

The Panthers' close win -- their fifth straight victory by seven points or less -- concludes a perfect 18-0 record in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), which regularly hosts Division I coaches. Rick Pitino (Lousville) and Rick Barnes (Texas) were just two of the nearly dozen on hand to witness the Panthers' latest triumph.

"A lot of people said the first game was a fluke and that it couldn't be done again," said senior Patrick Holloway, who finished with 11 points. "We knew we already had the number one seed, but for us we wanted to prove we could beat DeMatha again."

FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- Fairfax police say a Fairfax Auto Gallery employee reportedly stopped a man from stealing a vehicle but then the man came back in different clothing.

According to police, on Feb. 11 around 1:41 p.m., the man had gotten the keys to the vehicle and tried to take
...more it but the employee jumped in front of it. The man fled with the keys and then returned at approximately 3:56 p.m., wearing different clothing.

By this time, the employee had already reported the incident to police. When the man learned police had been called he fled.

Eighteen year old Hodifa Aboulh Tunalli was later found in the area and taken into custody after an investigation, say police.

Tunalli was transported to the Adult Detention Center and charged with grand larceny. His bond was set at $3000.
