FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA) -- Hundreds of parishioners filled the Falls Church Anglican for Sunday's five o'clock service, marking the last time they'll ever be together in their nearly three-hundred year-old church.

After losing a five year legal battle that revolved around the
...more philosophical direction of the Episcopal Church, nearly four-thousand parishioners here are without a spiritual home, having been ordered not to return to the church after Sunday.

The legal battle began because parishioners felt the national Episcopal Church had become too liberal over the years, as evidenced they say by the Church's recent practice of ordaining gay priests.

The historic church was founded back in the 1730s. George Washington was an early board member. On Sunday, one of the church's longtime pastors considered what Washington would have though of the controversy.

"I think he would regret that the Episcopal Church has left its foundations theologically,

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Thousands of members of a historic church in northern Virginia are holding their final Sunday services in their centuries-old home after losing a long-running court battle.

Members of The Falls Church Anglican, a congregation of 4,000 worshippers, have been
...more ordered to vacate the historic church property for which the city of Falls Church is named. The congregation traces its roots back to George Washington.

The congregation went through a nasty split precipitated by divisions within The Episcopal Church over the ordination of a gay bishop and other theological issues.

The congregation vacating the property aligned with more conservative forces and now considers itself Anglican. The liberal, continuing Episcopalians will be moving back in.

The conservative congregation plans to find a new home for its ministry.

Americans love to drink beer. In fact, we average around 81.6 liters of beer consumption per person, per year. Many men around the country would love to be considered a beer expert, but few hold that title. Even fewer are known as both a beer expert and a businessman who has turned his
...more passion for the brew into a lucrative business venture. Bill Madden, a local businessman, is one of the few men who get to wear both titles, and he does so with pride.
“There’s just so much to love about the science and art of brewing beer,” explains Bill Madden, the chief executive officer and executive brewer at Mad Fox Brewing Company (www.madfoxbrewing.com). “The more I learn about the industry, the more I know that brewing beer is where my passion lies, I decided to find a way to capitalize on it.”
While some people have home beer-brewing kits and play around with various recipes, Madden decided to get serious about it. In 1995, he graduated from the Master Brewers Program at the

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering in intensive care after a heart transplant at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

At 71, Dick Cheney is older than average age for a heart transplant, but doctors say medical advances have made it possible for older
...more patients to still be good transplant candidates.

Dr. Samer Najjar disputes any suggestion Vice President Cheney may have received preference treatment by moving to the top of the waiting list. Dr. Najjar is the medical director of Heart Transplantation at Washington Hospital Center, one of only two hospitals in the Washington area that do heart transplants. Inova Fairfax is the other.

Dr, Najjar says recipients are chosen first based on their need. Chosing the recipients is determined by a complex formula developed by the organ network. As Cheney's conditioned worsened over the years, he would have moved up the list, explained Najjar.

"Nine months ago, I wrote a book about my experiences in Iraq called We Meant Well. It exposed tremendous waste and mismanagement in the reconstruction of Iraq. VIENNA, Va.  (WUSA) - The Reston Zoo is a popular petting zoo for families and also hosts birthday parties for children. It houses a variety of animals, such as goats and camels and chickens and emus. And, until recently, a Wallaby, which looks like a small kangaroo.

But Thursday
...more morning, Fairfax County Police executed a search warrant after an employee at the zoo said the zoo director had drowned a sick Wallaby as a means of euthanasia. In The search warrant, the employee told the officer he'd put the Wallaby in a crate, and later observed the empty crate next to a water spigot with a five gallon bucket of water.

The warrant says the employee jumped into a dumpster and found a trash bag containing the deceased wallaby which was profusely wet.

The officer wrote that the director said she euthanized the Wallaby by injection with a drug called Beauthanasia. But, the officer found no blood at the supposed injection site and noted that the dead animal
