WALDORF, Md. (WUSA) - A child who followed his mother out of her car stepped into the path of an SUV and was killed Tuesday, according to Charles County Sheriff's Office.

According to witnesses, the child's mother had pulled over on the street and got out of the car to hand a letter to a mailman who was standing nearby, police said.  She did not realize that her son also got out of the car.

He had been strapped into a properly installed child car seat in the back seat of the car but managed to release his seat belt and quickly get out of the car, police said. He went behind his mother's vehicle and into the road where he was struck by an oncoming SUV.

Emergency personnel arrived to work on the child but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - A 2-year-old girl reportedly fell from a second story window in Rockville on Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery County Police report.

Police say the girl may have fallen about 10 feet out of the window onto a deck below at 1036 Grand Oak Way.

...more received the call at 3:22 p.m. A police spokeswoman said there is a language barrier, and that the child's parents may have waited half an hour before calling 9-1-1.

When medical personnel arrived, the girl was breathing but unconscious, according to  Capt. Oscar Garcia with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital Medical Center.

GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) - Prince George's County Fire Department Spokesperson Mark Brady says three tour buses, including one with middle school students from Dallastown, Pa. headed to D.C. for sightseeing, were involved in collisions on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway in Greenbelt on

Brady says that the Beltway traffic slowed down before the BW Parkway and a box truck hit the back of a bus, causing damage to the engine and disabling the bus.  

Brady also says two separate crashes involving the two other buses happened on the Beltway near Kenilworth Avenue.

Eight passengers/students from the first collision complained about neck and back pain, according to Brady, and four students and one adult from the second collision complained of illness or injury. He says no injuries were reported on the third bus.

In total, more than 80 passengers were evaluated at the scene but only 13 were taken to hospitals for minor injuries or

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) - A woman complained of pain and died after her car struck the vehicle in front of her on Rockville Pike on Wednesday, according to  Montgomery County Police.

The collision happened at approximately 7:35 a.m. Officers responded to the intersection of Rockville
...more Pike and Old Georgetown Road. When police arrived, both drivers were outside of their vehicles and walking around in the area.

The driver of a gold 2005 Ford Taurus had been slowing for traffic when it was hit from behind by a green 2000 Chrysler Sebring. While officers were speaking with the drivers, the Chrysler Sebring driver complained of pain. An ambulance was requested to take her to a hospital. In the ambulance, she lost consciousness, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

She was identified as Patricia Greer Parks,  61, of the 18200 block of Rolling Meadow Way in Olney. The Taurus driver is Ellen Margaret Girdharry,  41, of the 500 block of Lincoln Street in

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WUSA) -- Takoma Park Police say Katya Alexandra Chesla has been found Wednesday.

Police had been looking for Katya Alexandra Chesla since Sunday. At the time, police said that she may be in need of medication but on Wednesday they reporter that she was found safe and in good health.

OLNEY, Md, (WUSA) -- They walked in silence through the tall grass of a park in Olney to reach a spot that conjures the saddest of memories.

...more slammed into the woods, killing three of his passengers: 18 year-old Haeley McGuire, 18 year-old Spenser Datt, and 20 year-old Johnny Hoover.

On Tuesday, with heavy hearts under their matching bright green shirts, friends and family members held a candlelight vigil, and laid a wreath at the tree where their loved ones' lives came to an end.

Kevin Coffay initially received 20 years in prison, but a judge recently reduced the sentence to eight, and it's possible he could be a free man again sometime next year.

Many people at the candlelight vigil think Coffay's sentence was far too lenient given the incredible pain that he caused, though Haley Macguire's father said on

That was the voice of a teenager, working for Montgomery County Police on a Friday night. She orders alcohol through room service at this Gaithersburg Marriott near the Rio Entertainment Complex and waits behind the door of Room 827 to see if it will come.

Minutes later, it does. And the server asks, "Do you want me to bring it in?"

The girls respond, "Yes, please."

The server brings the bottle of wine right inside the room. No questions asked. That's when police emerge and Officer Bill Morrison says to the server, "Hi. How are ya?"

She responds, "Good. How are you?"

"Come on back inside. County police," says Morrison. "You didn't ask

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -  Voters said no to ambulance fees in 2010, but  on Tuesday, the Montgomery County Council passed the fee by a 6-3 vote, the County announced in a statement.

The council asserted that there was a misinformation campaign clouding the 2010 referendum vote,

The councilmembers opposed to the fees were Phil Andrews (D, Dist-3), Roger Berliner (D-Dist. 1) and George Leventhal (D-At Large).

Once fully implemented, the fee is expected to generate $16-18 million in annual revenue for the County, mostly paid for by the health insurance companies of people who are transported.
