FALLS CHURCH, Va. (WUSA)-- Falls Church-McLean Children's Center has an average waitlist of two years. It may sound like a place for those who can pay full tuition for their two to five year olds, but actually it's much more than that.
"My daughter learned how to play with friends,...more how to help friends, and she learned academic things too," says Susana Coro, a parent and teacher at the Center.
Coro says the Center gives her daughter, Yadira, the ideal environment to get ready for school, especially when her family could not pay the full tuition, $1,400 dollars a month.
Elizabeth Page, executive director, says the Center reserves over half of its enrollment to serving youngsters who qualify for subsidized tuition from Fairfax County.
"They're working but they cannot afford the high cost of child care and this is the only assistance most of our families get," Page says.

Students scan QR codes with a smart phone or iPad and up pops an instructional video for each station.
Physical education teacher Jay Levesque is the star. "I like it because Mr. Levesque is funny in most of them, and when pops out of the tree is the best one," said Zeeshan Khaliq.

MCLEAN, Va. (WUSA) -- A woman died after a driver lost control of his car in a parking garage on Thursday morning, police said.
Sumiko Hagan, 81, of McLean, died after the driver of the car she was in, lost control and crashed into another parked car, Fairfax County Police said in a...more news release.
It happened at around 11 a.m. in the 8200 block of Greensboro Drive, when the 89-year-old driver lost control and traveled around 225 feet down a narrow ramp at the parking garage, crash reconstruction police reported.
The couple were in a 2008 Scion when the driver lost control, crashed into a support pole, then a another unoccupied, parked vehicle, head-on, police said.
Hagan died at after being transported to a nearby hospital. Police did not release the status of the 89-year-old driver of the vehicle.

McLEAN, Va. (WUSA) -- National Cathedral was able to fight off a second half attack from The Potomac School and defeat the Panthers, 14-12, on Thursday.
The Eagles led the Panthers at halftime, 9-5, by outworking the host school. Cathedral was sprinting up and down the field, lunging...more for loose balls and making timely passes to cutting attackers near the goal. But the hustling strategy caught up to the Eagles in the second half.
Potomac began chipping away the lead on breakaway goals from Lauren Wackerle and Maggie Duff. Suddenly, Cathedral's four goal lead had evaporated. The Eagles knew they had to change their strategy.
"We had to slow it down. We didn't have the endurance to keep pushing it. We took time off the clock and possessed the ball," said Cathedral coach Lindsey Whelan about her coaching adjustment.

MCLEAN, Va. (WUSA) -- A fire broke out Thursday morning in a single-family home in the 6400 block of Linway Terrace in Mclean, Va. Fairfax County Police say investigators have determined that a juvenile playing with a lighter caused the fire.
Fairfax County Fire officials say...more firefighters who arrived at the scene and saw heavy smoke and fire coming from shed. The fire was spreading quickly up the vinyl siding of a nearby home. Fire also spread to the second floor, attic and roof.
More than 60 firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in approximately 20 minutes.
An adult and four juveniles were able to escape from the fire without and injuries. Pets also got out unharmed.
